Jock Palfreeman has already a valid passport issued, but the document will not be given to him until the court case is over. This was made clear during a meeting between Justice Minister Daniel Kirilov and the Interim Governor of the Australian Embassy in Athens, John Philip.
During the meeting, the Australian ambassador to Athens expressed his gratitude for the proper treatment of the Bulgarian Prison Administration with regard to Palfreeman. The diplomat added that Australia is aware that everything is currently developing according to the Bulgarian legislation and there are no deviations in the legal proceedings. Minister Kirilov said he was sure that the Bulgarian court would make the right decision on the Prosecutor’s Office’s request to reopen the case for Palfreeman’s conditional release.
Yesterday members of the Supreme Court of Cassation examined the request for the resumption of the Jock Palfreeman’s early release case. The deadline for pronouncement is two months, but it is expected to happen sooner because of the high public interest in the case.
