Performances of authentic folklore songs and compositions, ancient church chants, folk dances and folkloric rhythms with modern sound are included in the cultural program of the opening ceremony of the Bulgarian presidency. It will be held on January 11, 2018, from 19:30 to 20:30, at the Ivan Vazov National Theater.
The ceremony will be opened with the performance of the anthem of the Republic of Bulgaria by the Children’s Choir of the Bulgarian National Radio. Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Ljiljana Pavlova and Speakers of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, National Assembly President Tsveta Karayancheva, President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani, European Council President Donald Tusk, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Boyko Borissov. After the speech panel, the Children’s Choir will also fulfill the anthem of the European Union.
The cultural program includes performances of the chamber ensemble “Ioan Koukuzel-Angeloglasni”, the vocal acapele formation “Eva Quartet”, Stoyan Yankulov and ensemble “Chinari”, the National folklore ensemble “Bulgare”, the instrumental formation “Bulgara” and Chris and Velin.
