“Dear governors, change the law, reduce and freeze the salaries of the deputies, and record that everyone who does not work receives nothing”, BSP leader Korneliya Ninova said. “The MP’s of the BSP parliamentary group left the National Assembly and said they did not want to receive rewards or to use service cars while they are absent from parliament”, Ninova said.
“According to the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure, even if you do not work, you get part of your salary, and we have declared that we do not want this amount of money too. For this purpose, the governors were tempted to change the Rules. If they do it, they have put our proposal to vote too, which we import for the third time and for three months it is not considered. We want the matter of MPs’ salaries to be solved. They grow every three months automatically with the growth of the average salary. This is unfair, economically unjustified and morally reprehensible”, the BSP leader commented.
“It is unfair when more than 2 million Bulgarians live in extreme poverty, when inequalities are being increased, the salaries of the political elite grow. When we insisted that our proposal be accepted, the governors stepped back. In order not to open the topic of the reduction of the salaries, they have given up their intention to change the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure”, she added. “They claim that it is our legal right to receive money without going to work, but the laws can be changed, are not they?”, asked Ninova.
“Dear Governors, you have a majority, this decision is in your hands. If you do not do it, the truth will be clear.
You do not care about justice and about the people, but only for your money. I guarantee that if Bulgarian citizens consider that the BSP is worthy of governing, what we want today will be one of the first decisions of the next National Assembly”, Ninova concluded.
