The prosecutor’s office has demanded the permanent arrest of Nessebar Mayor Nikolay Dimitrov, accused of buying votes. According to the prosecutor’s office, Dimitrov, along with four other people, also candidates for the local goverment were detained during the police operation. At the addresses in the municipality were found money, notebooks, phones, names of voters. CCTV records have been seized. Nikolay Dimitrov is accused of leading an organized criminal group for votes trading or “crime against citizens’ political rights”. The rest are held responsible as members of the group.
They intended to pay 100 BGN to each to voter, said yesterday Dimitar Petrov, the head of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office, at a press conference on the detention of the mayor of Nessebar for violation of election rules. According to the investigation, as a members of the criminal group, they should have received between 5,000 and 10,000 BGN. Other people were promised to get posts in the local government. The were names of 114 people in the list.
